Sold one of the Street Party paintings yesterday ...

... from the Draíocht Gallery in Adare, needless to say I'm delighted. I just happened to be there when the buyers were looking around.

Yesterday, as it happens was an interesting day. I met some Dutch speakers quite by coincidence at Hinchey's of Garyspillane (car maintenance) - the hilarious thing? They've lived in Ireland for years, and the young man spoke Dutch incredibly fast with a strong East Limerick accent, they were reared here, but speak Dutch at home, which is quite near where I met them. Mental.

Then I made a snap decision to go straight to Adare to the gallery to see how things were going there, and while I was there, Agnes - the inimitable Agnes, whose chronological age shall forever remain a mystery because she is always so timelessly stylish, has that fabulous smile and the dirtiest sense of humour I have ever come across - insisted on introducing me to them, and we ended up chatting about art generally and some of the other works there in Draíocht (lots of artists whose work I admire a lot are exhibited there) and the woman decided to buy this particular painting.

And to finish the three fun coincidences of yesterday, we had a guest over for a few hours in the evening, and our little orange and white tomcat Charlie, who is normally wary of strangers, took one look at our guest and decided he loved her, giving her little rubs on the leg, then plonking down beside her and adoring purry blinky looks the way cats do when they love deeply. She must have made a very strong impression, so far we have been presented with two half-dead birds and a very dead shrew this morning. He hasn't given up on us, he's still trying to teach us how to hunt. Bless.

Now to see what today will bring ... at least it's glorious sunshine.
