Ballyheigue and Banna, Lough Akeragh outlet

The day I took the photo that I used for this painting, we got caught by the incoming tide and had to climb over the dunes and go through a housing estate to get to the road so that we could return to the town of Ballyheigue where our car was parked with our ankles intact. The alternative was to risk injury on rounded rocks and stones for nearly two miles, as the beach itself was under water. So no.

It's a beautiful beach, there were swimmers at the Ballyheigue end and some fishermen near this end of it, and I saw some windsurfers out at as well. Will check the tides before going next time.
